  • Ranked consistently as one of the safest cities in California by SafeWise based on the recent FBI crime data  crime statistics (In 2020, La Mirada was rank #1 as the safest community in Los Angeles County for all cities with over 2,000+ residents).

  • Increased our Public Safety budget by 23%.

  • Added 2 New Motor Deputies

  • Installed Smart Stationary License Plate Recognition Systems in major intersections throughout the city.

  • Equipped all Patrol Cars with Mobile License Plate Recognition Systems

  • Added crosswalk and state-of-the-art flashing beacon on Hillsborough Drive 

  • Added 2 traffic signals and 22 stop signs (some with accompanying pavement markings) throughout the city to control traffic flow.

  • Launched over 34 Neighborhood Watch Groups.

  • Initiated Ring Video Doorbell Rebate program to 200 residents.

  • Deputized over 100 dog owners in our K-9 Walker Program

  • During the pandemic, our revenue grew by 4% while other cities' budgets were decimated.

  • In 2022, we recorded the highest revenue in La Mirada history.

  • In 2019, the State Auditor conducted an independent study on fiscal health of 471 cities that resulted in La Mirada ranking #11.  Only one city in Los Angeles County has a higher ranking.     

  • In 2017, an independent government study by Senator John Moorlach placed La Mirada in the top 8% of all California cities in fiscal leadership and financial management. 

  • In 2016, Standard & Poors gave La Mirada a credit rating of AA+ & Long-term rating of AA, a validation of the city's judicious fiscal policies and strong financial position.  In the same year, United States Common Sense, a national organization dedicated to open government data and citizen education, ranked La Mirada in the top 96th percentile for overall fiscal health. 

  • Even in a recession, we are well-positioned to fund the programs and services necessary to keep our residents safe, make capital improvements, and invest in aging infrastructures.  

ALL 7.8 SQUARE MILES OF STREETS HAVE BEEN REHABILITAED OR SLURRY-SEALED!

  • A city-wide roadway pavement program that reconditioned all streets was completed in 2022.

  • Secured more than $15 million from Federal and State government for infrastructure improvements.

  • Initiated a Smart Energy Management Program that will save the city $11 million over a 10-year period through energy cost savings.

WE HAVE OVER 1,600 REGISTERED ACCOUNTS AND MANY OTHER USERS WHO HAVE DOWNLOADED THE MYLAMIRADA APP TO REPORT INCIDENTS

  • The MyLaMirada Smartphone App was launched in September 2016 as a more efficient way to address potential threats to safety before they degenerate into criminogenic environments. In 2023, we had about 4,500 entries in the app for services.
